Employer Identification Number (EIN)

Does your organization have an IRS-issued EIN (XX-XXXXXXX)?

Do you have a CBP-assigned Importer of Record (IOR) number? This is typically your EIN used with CBP for entry filings.

Do you have an ACE Secure Data Portal account? This is CBP's system for filing entries, reviewing trade data, and managing compliance.

Do you have a continuous customs bond (Type 1) on file with CBP?

A continuous bond is required for all importers who import more than once a year. Without one, goods are held at the port.

If you use a customs broker, have you executed a valid Power of Attorney (POA) authorizing them to act on your behalf?

For ocean shipments, are you consistently filing Importer Security Filing (ISF / "10+2") at least 24 hours before vessel loading?

Is your company a member of the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program? Members get expedited processing and fewer inspections.
